In Girl Missing by Tess Gerritsen, I am instantly pulled by the story and keep on reading. It starts with a prostitute who gets strangled and dumped in an alley, and after examining her, medical examiner Kat Novak struggles to find her identity.
When another girl emerges, Kat learns that a serial killer may be in town, administering a lethal dose of poison. She persists with the police and the mayor, especially when she feels a certain noble’s daughter went missing.
As I flipped through the book, I could feel the build-up of suspense to capture the culprit before he could commit another murder. This is so real, and the stakes are higher; it is like the danger is almost palpable.
