“The Secret of Your Success Is Determined by Your Daily Agenda”
In fact, I got this book from my dad’s library when I got mesmerized by its name “Make Today Count.” Written by one of their best hands, John C. Maxwell.
He began the first couple of pages by stating “great decision + daily area = masterpiece possible ” Things turn out nicely for men and women who make the very best of the way things turn out. So we have to make daily adjustment to keep right mindset.
Make Today Count is summed up by its subtitle, “The Secret of Your Success Is Determined by Your Daily Agenda”. Maxwell points out that what we become is the result of what we do today, that every day is prep for the following. As a result, the only real way to change your lifestyle is to change what you do daily.
Maxwell approaches this task by listing his “daily dozen”, the 12 areas of life that he focuses upon in order to create his own life a success. Dedicating a chapter to each of these areas, Maxwell gives practical suggestions and examples from his own life on how each region can be developed. At the close of the novel, he encourages the reader to create their own list, using the “daily dozen” as a version, and to work on those priorities every day in order to live a successful and fulfilled life.
Maxwell’s Daily Dozen

- Priorities: Determine and act on important priorities daily.
- Health: Know and follow healthy guidelines daily.
- Family: Communicate with and care for my family daily.
- Thinking: Practice and develop good thinking daily.
- Commitment: Make and keep proper commitments daily.
- Finances: Make and properly manage dollars daily.
- Faith: Deepen and live out my faith daily.

This is a wonderful weekend read. If you’re one who enjoys recharging your energies during the holidays, you’ll find this book very helpful.
Even though John Maxwell’s advice is that a person focus on all these 12 areas (or make your own 10-15 areas) consistently, as a reader, I think that one or more of them may stand out over others, depending on where that reader is in their life.
Faith is a topic of an entire chapter of Make Today Count, and I was intrigued to see Maxwell presents his spiritual convictions in the book. Maxwell’s earlier books have experienced considerable success amongst industry leaders and in other secular markets.
Nevertheless, in Make Today Count Maxwell unashamedly proclaims his Christian religion has formed the basis of his life’s work, and cites the Bible as the source book for many of his ideas. For him, faith is essential.
According to Amazon, much of the material from the book was covered in his previous work, Nowadays Matters, So readers of the previous volume might not find much new stuff here. Others might find a lot of the material self indulgent or common sense. Frankly, I envy these men and women! Lessons to be learned from this book. Therefore, I think it is well worth The cover price.
You already understand how to count your days, right now is the time to create your days count. In John Maxwell’s words,”if you treat today, tomorrow will look after itself.”
