A Royal Navy nuclear submarine surfaces between the Danish island Bornholm and the Baltic coast in East Germany. James Bond and two other marines slip into the forward hatch and get into an inflatable powered raft. They then set out for a lonely beach to find two young women.
They were attempting to lure communist agents into fleeing to the West. However, the other side has rumbled them. Bond doesn’t know that this routine exercise is just the prelude for a nerve-racking game bluffing and double bluff. This was played with consummate skill and his chief M against East German HVA and the elite branch KGB, formed from Bond’s old adversary SMERSH.
Bond soon finds himself in the KGB’s clutches, but not everything is as it seems. Bond must use all his intelligence to navigate the maze of double-crosses that will take him to a bewildering battle in a remote corner, Kowloon, Hong Kong. He is left with the Q branch’s trusted belt of secret weapons and must fight a terrifying duel in darkness with all his cards.

John Gardner Biography
John Gardner was an American writer and critic of literature. He wrote several short stories and novels as a teacher of creativity, English, and Anglo-Saxon at various universities across all over the United States. The two novels he wrote [The Art of Fiction and The Art of Fiction and How to Become A Novelistare considered classics of the area. Most well-known is his book Grendel that was released in 1971.
Gardner was a frequent attendee at Bread Loaf’s Writers’ Convention. Two of Gardner’s most recurring themes are the redemptive power of art as expressed through Grendel in the powerful impact of the shaper in Grendel’s philosophical struggle and his belief that fiction is moral as exemplified by Grendel’s quest to find the meaning.
John Gardner died in a motorcycle accident in the year 1982.
