James Bond is accompanied by his Bentley Mulsanne Turbo as he navigates through Ostend. This is the beginning of a well-earned leave. Rome is his destination.
He is unaccountably agitated by the incident on the ferry crossing the Channel. The vessel has stopped while an investigation is conducted for two young skylarks who were believed to have gone overboard. Unobserved, he uses the dashboard’s secret panel to check his 9mm ASP auto and spare ammunition clips. Bond reflects on M’s final advice to be “especially cautious.” Bond had a strange feeling that M was deliberately concealing something.
After disembarking at the Belgian ports, it takes only a few hours before Bond makes the first grisly move in a bizarre game of cat and mouse, with Bond playing the prey.
