Changes – Dresden Files Book 12: The fast-paced, thrilling 12th novel in the Butcher’s best-selling series (after the success of 2009’s The Turn of the Coat ) can be appropriately called. It begins with the revelation the wizard Detective Harry Dresden has a daughter; Butcher throws one high-stakes curveball after the other at his protagonist. Harry’s ex-girlfriend, Susan Rodriguez, discloses young Maggie’s existence following her vampire Red Court duchess Arianna Ortega kidnaps the girl.
Ortega is believed to hold Harry responsible for the death of her husband and plans for the offer of Maggie as an act of sacrifice for her soul.
There is a fragile peace taking space between the Red Court and the White Council of wizards; Harry cannot trust them to support him during his mission to rescue and must compromise the majority of his beliefs to help his daughter. Butcher is adept at easing inevitable tensions and despair by delivering gallows-themed quips which keep readers returning to read more.

Jim Butcher was born in Independence, Missouri, on October 26 1971. He is the creator of The Dresden Files series, the Codex Alera series, Side Jobs, Ghost Story, and the Cinder Spires series. He also wrote an original Spider-Man novel called The Darkest Hours and the novelette Backup.
