Battle Ground – Dresden Files Book 17: This urban fantasy blockbuster Butcher swiftly pays off on the significant cliffhanger of The Peace Talks and launches the wizard Harry Dresden and the city of Chicago into a fierce fight.
When the previous film ended with The Fomor King Corb and the last Titan, Ethniu, daughter of Balor, dropped the gauntlet to the gathered supernatural peoples, who had come together for peace talks. A few hours later, Fomor forces rise out of Lake Michigan and besiege Chicago with the intent to kill everyone in the city.
The result will be the “epic mythology fight” in which almost every living person or enemy featured in a previous Dresden novel is either fighting alongside or against Harry and some terrifying new foes appearing in the scene.
The fight never ceases as the army of Ethniu squanders city blocks and kills many people. Harry starts this book capable of spouting his usual wisdom; however, he becomes gloomy as the cost of war increases and the physical, emotional, and even magical attacks continue to come.
Butcher does not shy away from his regular storytelling tricks and, as the war continues to rage, lays out several subplots that will be explored in subsequent stories.
