A Game of Thrones – George R. R. Martin: The winter is upon us. That’s the short mantra that is the motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms which owe loyalty to the King Robert Baratheon in far-off King’s Landing. In King’s Landing, Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules under Robert’s name. The family of the Starks lives in peace and peace. The proud wife of Catelyn and his brothers Robb, Brandon, and Rickon and the daughter Sansa and Arya, and his smug brother, Jon Snow.

Further to the north, to the left of the massive Wall, lies a savage Wildings and more – unnatural things that were relegated to myth throughout the long summer and yet becoming to be all too real and dangerous at the turn to autumn.

More danger is lurking in the south and south of the city, in the region where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has passed away in mysterious circumstances. So the Hand of the King, Robert, is heading north towards Winterfell and is bringing his Queen, beautiful but cold Cersei, and his son the cruel, arrogant Prince Joffrey and the sisters of Queen Jaime as well Tyrion of the powerful and wealthy House Lannister.

One is a skilled swordsman with no equal, while the other is a dwarf, whose slender stature is a testament to a brilliant mind. They’re all headed for Winterfell and a crucial encounter that will alter the direction of the kingdoms.
