Choose Me by Tess Gerritsen: My honest thoughts on the book’s plot, characters, and overall impact.

This is by Tess Gerritsen, a New York Times bestseller. Gary Braver, one of America’s best thriller writers, presents a stunning and captivating murder mystery about an extramarital fling and hidden truths.

Taryn Moore, a lovely, talented young woman, ends up lifeless after a dizzying fall from her apartment building’s balcony. Despite the management’s assertions that it was a case of suicide, Detective Frankie Loomis feels that there must be more to it. She is right on this when she finds some shocking detail that may well be either the reason for the suicide or the murder.

English professor Jack Dorian viewed Taryn as the ultimate fantasy: an intelligent beauty, a loving sweetheart, and a taboo. However, Taryn had a dark side and a dangerous character which posed a danger to everyone, including Jack, whom she was close to. It gets worse for Jack when Taryn dies in this series, which is a really bad thing for him since it just starts his problems.

Over the course of the episode, riffing on the hoary crime-fiction cliché, Frankie digs deeper and finds that it’s Jack who seems to be holding something back. While one cannot doubt that he is involved in a deception scheme, the question arises whether he is a man capable of committing a cold-blooded murder.
