Coronary artery disease continues to be the leading cause of death among women because of its ability to remain asymptomatic for long periods. Mackey and Crow series This “shocking and fast-paced” (Karin Slaughter) thriller follows Jane and Maura as they attempt to solve another brutal killing and Jane’s intrepid mother, Angela, digging into a mystery of her own.
Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles are perplexed when they began what they had first assumed to be the random shooting of a woman, Sofia Suarez, a young widow, who was a nurse by profession. Further, they learn that in the last days of their life, Sofia was calling bauble phones and other unknown numbers.
This is complicated when a link is made between Sofia and one of the victims involved in a hit-and-run in previous months, hinting at the fact that she was involved in the darker side of things. This positions Jane and Maura against the killer who is extremely protective of his/her secrets and, therefore, lengths his/her efforts to thwart the investigation.
On the other hand, Jane’s mother Angela Rizzoli becomes preoccupied with any unusual phenomena going on around her house; rumors of a male teenage runaway and new neighbors. For her part, Jane does not take Angela seriously, and yet the latter is still sure that the threat lies right at the doorstep.
