Karen Kingsbury was born on June 8, 1963 in Fairfax, Virginia in the United States of America. She was the eldest of three children born to Ted and Anne Kingsbury. She was raised in an environment of faith and love, and her parents instilled in her a love of reading, writing, and storytelling.
Karen attended Canoga Park School, and in 1981, she graduated from the school. She then went on to pursue higher education by enrolling at California State University Northridge. She graduated with a degree in Journalism in 1986.
During her senior year at the university, Karen took up an internship at the Los Angeles Times as a sports reporter. After graduation, she was employed by the Los Angeles Daily News. Karen worked as a sports writer for two years, after which she was promoted to the front page of the Sunday paper. Here, she wrote emotional feature stories that made a lasting impression on her readers.
Karen was passionate about writing, but she had an unquenchable thirst for learning more about her faith. She attended Liberty University and earned a Master’s in Education in 1994. She then began writing inspirational stories that were uplifting and faith-based.
